What can I say... It's better than I was expecting, I wish I had a camera. My camrea bit the big one during my last trip to San Luis Potosi, so this is the best I can do. Oh well.
This is the farthest south (19°26′N 99°8′W) that I have ever traveled and the most populated city (8,851,080 people) that I've ever been to. Just like every other city in Mexico that I've been too, the people are very friendly. I'm a little more weary about the food here, my coleagues have all gotten sick here from eating at some point in time. The air is also thin, because Mexico City is pretty high up for elevation (3,930 m).
I've just started my second and last week of being here, so I can't wait to see my girls. I hope to be able to find a couple of hours to my own while I'm here so that I can go out and see a little of the city.
I'll try to get my hands on a camera.
Anyway, bye for now

Bagpiper was just calling...
This guy was alot of fun to paint. I did some research, and it's pretty hard to see colour in black and white photos, but with a little digging and the help of a couple of wikis and some dedicated web sites.
I painted a Seaforth Highlander of Canada bag piping soldier.

Recce Platoon Just about done
Three Otter LRC I and two Humber III
I did quite a bit of net surfing to look for a Canadian Army approved camo pattern use on these vehicles during the second world war. Thanks to Armoured Acorn, I found what I needed to paint what I wanted. I tried to match the patterns as close to what was pictured, on the Armoured Acorn site, that these vehicles used during the time period of 1943.
Darcy thinks I did a good job.
All I have left to do is wait for the wash to dry and paint on the markings. This is a work in progress.

What happens when you give your kids a brush?
So back in November, I had a weekend that Darcy was working and Aubie was just put to bed for a nap. The weather outside wasn't the greatest and the girls ,and I, had a couple of hours to kill. I just happened to have three model dwarves primed, so I gave my girls a paint brush.
So far so good
It looks like March will be a good month of painting for me. I've got all my rifle platoons painted and as a side project, I've started on a custom objective marker.

Lost my Mind
What am I doing up so late?Anyway, I've stayed up late for the last couple of nights to finish painting my rifle company for FOW and I did it! I finished painting the troops. I know, I know... I still need to finish the base, but the individual solders are painted.
Feeling pretty good about my paint job too.
On a side note about my modeling, I tried air brushing tonight... Epic fail... I need practice, and lots of it. I made the mistake of testing it on one of my models (a good one) and I regretted it afterwards. I'm going to look up more stuff about it before I try again, and maybe next time I'll use a dummy model as a guinea pig.
Hopefully I was able to fix the model.
Well my pic just finished uploading to Flickr, and I really should get to sleep.

Paint to Model
Finally put paint to model tonight, I've been putting this off for far too long. I'm going to get those infantry done by the end of the month, because I'd love to get my vehicles started. There are a couple of clubs that are doing F.O.W. nights that I'd like to start going to once the curling season is done which is by mid April. So that would be my dead line to have 1500 pts fully painted and based.
On a side note, I finished Red Dead Redemption! Which might also explain why I was lazy in painting my models.
Anyway...
Good night!

The Sickness
You know when you have a cold, your coughing, your nose is runny and your just feeling all around crappy.
I had that, times ten. I'm finally getting over a flu/sinus infection. It's been very difficult to concentrate on anything and I've had this for at least four weeks. I noticed that I was finally starting to feel better on Monday night while I was curling. I hit the broom and got the weight right, FINALLY!
I've also been playing my PS3 alot for the last couple of weeks, Red Dead Redemption is pretty cool, so the hobby hasn't been getting alot of attention for some time now. I'll have no more excuses in the next couple of days. I still have those rifle platoons half painted that I need to get done and I'd like to start on my Cryx models too.
I'd also like to start running again. We've been going thru a huge snow melt this week and it almost feels like it might be spring. I know better to call it spring while we're still in February, but the sidewalks and streets do look pretty nice for running.
Till later

Start Planning
Now that I'm back from Mexico, I noticed that we're already in February. That's just insane!
Ontario Parks has a five month in advance policy that I like using. This is a pic from last summer in Algonquin Park with Laura, that was our first multi-night camping trip. Five days and we're going to do it again, but this time, I'm going to bring Oceane too.
I'd like to go a few times this year, one with both and a couple of more with each girl. As you can see, I love the outdoors and I hope to share this with each one of my girls.
The only real questions is...
Where?

In Mexico Again
Just to write up a quick update.
I'm in Mexico, again! San Luis Potosi isn't the worst place in Mexico, but it's no resort. The weather so far has been pretty nice, low to upper 20's during the day and lower teen's during the evenning. I whould love to be able to post some pictures, but my camera doesn't work anymore.
As always, work is keeping me pretty busy. I talked to a couple of people on the shop floor and they tell me that the mountains all around us have some pretty cool caves, and we're about a four hour drive away from a tropical rain forest. They say that there's some pretty good fishing in the rivers there. Maybe one of these days I'll have time to check these places out.
My understanding is that we're getting hit pretty hard with snow back home. While I was talking to Darcy last night, it hasn't started yet, but this morning a few American's working here say that it's pretty bad and checking my work email, the cafe at work is closed due to Alicia not comming in. So be careful driving.
